One Family aims to prevent homelessness and break the cycle of family poverty in Massachusetts by promoting pathways to economic independence through
advocacy, education, and innovation.
We envision a Commonwealth where all families have secure housing, access to education leading to employment, and the ability to build assets to create a brighter future. We believe that if policies are focused on prevention and programs are designed to promote opportunities, then we can end family homelessness in Massachusetts.
Our Core Values
Recognize that families must be at the forefront:
We amplify and center the perspectives of parents in our programs, our advocacy, and our workplace culture.
Embrace diversity, foster equity and inclusion:
We elevate diversity, equity, and inclusion in all facets of our organization and work.
Take a holistic approach:
We celebrate and respect people for who they are, and recognize all of the aspects of their identities.
Learn, iterate, and adapt:
As new situations and information arise, we are thinking big picture about how we should respond while encouraging creativity, innovation, and collaboration.
Believe that change is necessary and possible:
There are broken systems that contribute to the crisis of family homelessness, and through public policy and advocacy those systems can be improved.
Focus on impact:
As we work to solve complex systemic problems we need robust data to fully evaluate our progress and our impact.
Our Work & Philosophy
One Family became a lifesaver and an empowering force for me. It provided me with the support to obtain an education and enabled me to plan my son's future in brighter colors. Most importantly, this program helped me be a role model for my son.

One Family pairs our Public Policy Advoacy with three programs that directly serve families who are experiencing homelessness or living with low incomes. We also offer Technical Assistance to government agencies and other nonprofits in order to share our coaching methodology. This approach has an incredible impact in the lives of individual families, as well as our state-wide systems and policies.
