Unemployment if you quit your job

According to the Mass. Law Reform Institute and Greater Boston Legal Services, individuals who quit their job for one of the following reasons may be eligible for unemployment benefits:

- Domestic violence made it unsafe to continue working
- Your declining health prevented you from working
- You left work to care for a sick family member
- Unsafe or unhealthy working conditions
- A transfer to unsuitable work that was not your choice (a different kind of job that is not right for you)
- A permanent reduction in pay or hours that wasn't your choice
- Unlawful discrimination or harassment, including sexual harrassment, race-related harrassment, or other harassment
- You quit in order to take care of unexpected and urgent problems with the child care arrangements you have been using
(Limited circumstances only)
- You had to quit your job due to loss of transportation access
